How to shop and save online

Knowing how to shop and save online is a skill. Getting the best price and maximising your savings when you shop online can be easier said than done. However, with the right know-how, it’s possible to shop confidently and ensure you’re getting the best value for money.

Here are some tips on how to shop and save online to help make your shopping experience work for you.

Compare the Competition

To make sure you are getting the best price especially when it comes to electronics and white goods, do your research. Comparison websites like Get Price and Shopbot do all the hard work for you. Just type in the product you are looking for and they will show where the product is available and the best price.

Get cashback

Want to get cash back just for shopping as you normally would online from over 1200 retailers? I’m talking cash not points or credit, actual cash that you can spend wherever you want. I’ve been shopping via Cashrewards for nearly 2 years and have got back nearly $2,000 in cash. It’s free and easy, sign up to Cashrewards. The way it works is simple, purchase from one of the retailers on Cashrewards and that retailer pays Cashrewards a commission and they split that with you (see video explainer above). Told you it was easy! Some of their retail partners include THE ICONIC, Woolworths, [eBay, (https://www.cashrewards.com.au/shop) Amazon, NET-A-PORTER, My Pet Warehouse, [Bonds, (https://www.cashrewards.com.au/bonds?utm_source=Blog&utm_medium=Post&utm_campaign=Home%20&%20Lifestyle=&utm_content=How%20to%20Shop%20and%20Save%20Online) Bupa, Myer and Expedia. You never have to pay full price again.

Take Advantage of the Live Chat

Have you ever noticed the little ‘live chat’ box that pops up when you are online? Take advantage of it and ask the question “do you have a discount code I could use?” or “can I get free shipping?” Most of the time they will give you a code. If you don’t ask you don’t get.

Abandon Cart

I sometimes have added things to my cart and for whatever reason, I didn’t complete the transaction. Then a couple of days later I have received an email reminding me I have left things behind and if I check out now and use a code they have offered I will receive a discount. Clever marketing from retailers. Give it a try.

Social Media

Most of us have already signed up to our favourite retailers to receive notifications of the latest sales and exclusive member offers but do you follow your favourite brands on Instagram? Lately, I have found I’m picking up some great discount codes from my faves on Instagram, good for style inspiration too.

These tips are a sure way to get you on your way to getting the best deals around when you shop online.

Happy Shopping!
