Possibly the world’s most expensive restaurant, Sublimotion offers you a rare experience as well as some of the finest cuisine. This is a 12 seated restaurant that charges approximately €1,500 per person for a 20-course dinner that takes 3 hours to complete. That’s right only 12 diners every night! The restaurant operates during the summer months and offers diners an immersive dining-entertainment experience including music, virtual reality, laser light shows and projection mapping.

2. Kitcho Arashiyama, Kyoto, Japan

According to elitetraveler, this is one of the most expensive 3 star Michelin restaurants in the world. This Japanese restaurant has proven so popular that it now has five luxury restaurants throughout Japan. Encompassing traditional Japanese customs, the dining experience includes a tea ceremony and Kaiseki (a traditional multi-course Japanese dinner that is the epitome of Japanese cuisine). There is a choice of a few authentic Kaiseki meals on the menu. They’ll set you back between 40,000- 60,000 yen (approximately $505- $756AUD) per person – that’s excluding tax and service charges. There is also the chef’s Omakase course that has no set price, as it is based on market prices. The bonus with paying for this course is that the chef personalises the service and will prepare the food for you in your private dining room.

This is the true essence of Parisian dining. Guests are seated in a dining room that features a chandelier made up of 10,000 crystal pendants. This is one classy dining experience that will set you back about $550 USD per person. Atlantic sea bass with avocado miso, lobster, tagliolini pasta and black truffle are just some of the delights you can dine on.

4. Masa, New York, USA

Established in 2004, Masa is one of the most famous Japanese cuisine restaurants in New York City. Well known for its special ice-cream that comes at a crazy $46USD and its maki rolls priced at $245 USD, you’ll need to book at least three weeks in advance to get a table here. Be aware that there is a fee of $200USD if you cancel your reservation. Dinner at this restaurant is said to average around $595USD per person which doesn’t include tax or beverages.

5. Ithaa Undersea Restaurant, Conrad Rangali Island, Maldives

A truly mouth-watering experience in every sense. Dine 16 feet (5 meters) under the ocean and experience 180-degree views of the coral gardens surrounding this 14-seat venue. Dine on a 6-course set menu of European cuisine in this out-of-this-world dining experience. This will set you back approximately $320USD per person. The restaurant is also open for mid-morning cocktails and can be booked privately for breakfast and special occasions.

6. Restaurant de I’Hôtel de Ville, Crissier, Switzerland

With 3 Michelin stars, this restaurant is a must for avid foodies. The price per person comes to 390 CHF (approximately $545 AUD). Dine on an indulging 11-course set menu featuring Celtic sea scallops, Alpine goat, wild turbot and other delicacies. There is also an extensive 40-page wine list to choose from.

7. Guy Savoy, Paris, France

Taste confit chicory leaves interlaced with foie gras and dressed in truffle, or artichoke soup with black truffle and many more other fine delicacies that are available on the 13-course set menu. Don’t want the set menu? Dine from the al carte menu available if you prefer. Guy Savoy is also a three Michelin star restaurant and dining here will cost roughly €395 per person.

8. Anne-Sophie Pic: The Restaurant, Valence, France

This family run restaurant will set you back a cool €340 per person for the Essential menu. This menu features dishes such as their famous Berlingots that are filled with lightly smoked Banon (goat’s cheese) and watercress consommé infused with ginger and bergamot. Or you could go for the cheaper option of €180 per person for the Discovery menu which also features the Berlingots.
