Australia’s most unique accommodation

There’s a memorable getaway -an ok hotel, comfortable room with room service, and then there’s memorable-fantastic location and unique accommodation. And if you’re like us we prefer the latter. We all want our getaways to be memorable for the right reasons and staying in unique accommodation can make your trip all the more fun and exciting. Plus, you’ll really have something to remember!

We’ve found some of the most unique stays in Australia that will make you truly appreciate your surrounds. From bubble tents to caves and more, accommodation doesn’t have to be restricted to a hotel or ordinary campground. And if book your accommodation, flights and car hire through Cashrewards and you’ll also earn cashback, making your stay unforgettable.

Live in a Bubble Tent

Bubbletent Australia, Capertree Valley, New South Wales: This literally takes living in a bubble to a whole other level! These bubble tents have been featured on pretty much every travel show lately and there’s a good reason why. Gaze up at the stars at night as you fall asleep on a comfy bed surrounded by nature and creature comforts like heating and a proper bathroom. Now, that’s what camping is all about – well at least to most of us who appreciate the great outdoors with some comforts. These bubble tents are a great idea for a truly unique experience. Situated about 200 km outside of Sydney, there are three sites to choose from Leo, that overlooks the entire valley from the top of a hill. Cancer is situated on top of cliffs and nestled in amongst the trees, this site is surrounded by lookouts and a hammock spot. And Virgo, this site comes fitted with a wood-fired hot tub, your own herb garden and gorgeous sunset view of the valley. The bubble tents feature amenities, however, bring food and drinks with you because there is no room service here- but for views like these, you’ll sacrifice that in a heartbeat. To get there book a flight to Sydney with Virgin Australia and book your car hire with Hertz and earn cashback on both bookings.

They have 12 above ground safari-style tents located amongst eucalypts and paperbarks and also have The Gunyah Restaurant situated amongst the treetops for a truly unique dining experience. This is Glamping at its finest! The site is situated on the banks of the beautiful Tamar River so you will also have water views. Their safari tents come with queen beds with Egyptian cotton linen and include vintage steamer trunks and Persian style carpets- luxury at it’s finest! From here you can travel out to sample the produce and wine of the region or hike through the wilderness or relax on the shores of the white sandy beaches. The Hat Cave – Hatters Hideout, Bell NSW: The Hat Cave is part of the Hatters Hideout and is surrounded by huge escarpments and the bushland of the Blue Mountains Nationa Park. This accommodation may not be all that glamorous, but it’s pretty cool. The Hat Cave is a huge sandstone cathedral that can be accessed via a 500-meter walking track. Whilst you have to bring your sleeping bags the cave does come with some comforts like a gas barbeque, ice box, table and chairs, solar-powered lights, rainwater on tap, a kitchen sink and utensils, kindling for the campfire as well as a toilet. This place is perfect for groups and families who want to ‘rough it’ a little. The perfect setting to make smores around a campfire!

Sleep in a cave

The Enchanted Cave, Bilpin NSW: built onto a natural rock platform overlooking the Blue Mountains, this cave is a great place for romance or a quirky getaway, after all, it is called the enchanted cave. This cave is not so primitive, it comes with a spa, loves seat carved from the natural rock, a fireplace and a queen bed. Not a bad spot to spend the night in.
